Prof. Dr. Özgür Kılıçkesmez completed his medical education in 1997 at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and pursued specialization in Radiology at Istanbul Education and Research Hospital (İEAH). In 2011, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. In 2010, he received six months of neuroangiography training at the Neuro-Radiology Department of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. Between 2012 and 2013, he worked in London as a clinical fellow for three months in the interventional radiology departments of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals and for six months at King’s College Hospital, focusing on advanced peripheral and interventional oncology.

From 2012 to 2020, he managed the Interventional Radiology Department at İEAH. Since 2020, he has served as the founder of the Radiology and Interventional Neuro-Radiology/Interventional Radiology departments at SBÜ Istanbul Çam and Sakura City Hospital. In the same year, he was appointed as a professor in the Radiology faculty of the same institution. The Interventional Radiology Department of this hospital became the largest 24/7 service of its time. As of 2024, he has taken on the role of Radiology Director at Medicana Health Group’s Istanbul Ataköy Hospital.

Prof. Dr. Kılıçkesmez holds the Turkish Radiology Qualification Certificate, Turkish Interventional Radiology Qualification Certificate, Stroke Treatment Certification, and the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR).

In his academic career, he won the Siemens Radiology First Prize in 2008. He has received awards for the most-cited articles in international journals and has been recognized among the best reviewers for the American Journal of Roentgenology and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. His academic contributions include 83 international and 35 national published articles, 28 online articles, and approximately 100 conference and symposium presentations, with over 1,500 citations to his work.

His areas of interest include minimally invasive treatments for painful musculoskeletal and spinal pathologies, non-surgical treatments for thyroid and parathyroid diseases, vascular erectile dysfunction treatments, and angiographic treatments for brain and body vascular diseases.

Prof. Dr. Kılıçkesmez has trained hundreds of international physicians in areas such as brain aneurysm treatments, minimally invasive thyroid disease therapies, vascular occlusion procedures, and embolization (e.g., for thyroid, hemorrhoids, prostate, AVM). He continues these educational activities and has delivered speeches at over 100 conferences.
